My Mission.

Starting a class at a new school can be scary. Starting one in a different country and in a different language can be very scary. Your success will not depend on whether you are "good" at English. Lots of native speakers have difficulty in college. It is important to remember that the big decision you've made to study abroad is just the beginning. You'll still have thousands of little decisions to make.
For example, should I my read my textbook now or watch a video? Should I rewrite my notes after class or check my email? Should I get some sleep or do some shopping on the Web?

Successful students have good habits, but these take time and effort to form.
Balancing your life so that you can finish your assignments, spend time with your friends, and take care of your health is a very important part of going to college, and NIC is a good place to learn how to do that. Students here work hard every day at improving their academic skills because they know they have to. They develop good habits to meet the high expectations of their teachers and their classmates. These are the habits that will give them confidence when they go abroad to study. My mission is to make sure that when they sit down in their first class someplace far away, they are thinking, "I can do this."
